Through the Japanese Art of Kintsugi ~what is broken is not hidden nor are the pieces discarded.  It is acknowledged, the surfaces smoothed, and the pieces rejoined with an urushi lacquer, re-creating something far greater than the sum of the once broken parts. The entire piece is transformed and made more beautiful and infinitely stronger than it was before.

At the heart of Kintsugi is the concept of wabi-sabi,  a Japanese aesthetic that values imperfection, impermanence, and irregularity.  Kintsugi then becomes a way of honoring wabi-sabi ~ the golden seams hide nothing ~ they illuminate it.

​

And so it is with healing body, mind, soul and spirit.  During a person’s healing journey ~  the same veracity is needed to bring about  a restoration of life greater than the fragments of story left in the wake. 

​

Deep listening, focus and skillfulness are needed to navigate this healing terrain and too often in our overly busy lives ~ we neglect this for ourselves. Until we come to a crossroads.
